Leader in the Distribution of Auto Parts and Tools in Argentina
Accurate Information
The Papierttei success story shows how, as a business grows, its logistics become more complex. Business expansion brings with it the need to optimize the processes that support it. This is where GT WMS® comes in: digitizing warehouse management to make storage smarter and increase the company’s real productivity.
The Challenge
The challenge for Papierttei, one of the country’s largest auto parts distributors, was to implement a WMS at four branches across the country. To do this, it had to transform its work culture—which had become accustomed to operating with limited information—into one that would allow it to forecast its operations and act based on reliable information. The goal was to improve not only the performance of the operational departments but also the reliability with which salespeople work in the field and the administrative department.
For this reason, and with the goal of improving operational aspects of its warehouse management—such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment speed, space optimization, and order accuracy, which affected not only productivity but also customer satisfaction—Papierttei set out to find a WMS solution that could be implemented at its four operational centers (Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Bahía Blanca, and Rosario).
The Solution
GTWMS was the solution chosen, following an extensive selection process, to be implemented in its warehouses and integrated with the company’s proprietary ERP system. The project was underway.
The Papierttei project involved a working group composed of operational staff from the various branches, as well as IT personnel who worked alongside the GlobalTech team on a full integration, in order to provide the synergy and speed that the operation required. The project even took into account over-the-counter sales, which involve a different dynamic with the customer and require agility tailored to the sales process.
We also involved the sales staff so they could understand the scope of the project and the benefits of having reliable information on the availability and inventory of merchandise at each of the company’s branches. Implementing DEPOT WMS would allow them to make a commitment to the customer from the moment of sale, ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering on time, in the proper manner, and with precision.
The project required approximately 10 months of collaborative work. It was necessary to define operational processes and adopt technology to complete the implementation across the four branches. A decentralized model was followed, based on technical specifications required by the client, and the project involved a data consolidation process carried out by Papierttei’s IT staff.
As a result, the system covered areas ranging from the receipt of products from suppliers, in-store returns, customer returns, and a warranty return process; through to storage—optimizing space and following the client’s guidelines—and on to the preparation, inspection, packing, and shipping of orders. The entire process is optimized, computerized, and running smoothly.
