Web Platform
Aluar Aluminio Argentino SAIC is the only primary aluminum producer in Argentina and one of the largest in South America. The Aluar success story is an example of how, by working closely with the client and taking their specific needs into account, GlobalTech generates significant added value. This case involves the implementation of the GT WMS® product, process optimization, and the custom development of a web platform. All these elements come together to create a comprehensive, high-impact solution.
The Challenge
Aluar faced the challenge of modernizing its management systems for its semi-finished product warehouse operations (ingots, bars, rods, etc.) at its plant in Puerto Madryn (Chubut Province). To this end, the company evaluated a range of suppliers, including various domestic options, international suppliers, an in-house development, and even the adoption of the WMS module available within its ERP system.
GT WMS® was one of the products evaluated and ultimately selected by Aluar. A key factor in this decision was not only the quality and functional scope of GT WMS®, but also the logistics expertise of the GlobalTech team .
The Solution
To meet Aluar’s needs, we took on the challenge of implementing GT WMS® with its predefined features and scope, while also adding additional development hours to address specific aspects of the operation and achieve full integration with the company’s other internal systems on a web-based platform.
The project involved a joint team, including Aluar staff (from both operations and IT) and a group of developers, consultants, and implementers from GlobalTech. The project encompassed process assessment, reengineering, and optimization, along with the development of specific functions required by the client.
The final solution was a web-based product that enables Aluar to fully streamline its warehouse operations, from receiving materials at the production line (integrated with the MRP system) to shipping to domestic and international markets (integrated with the ERP system in this segment). It also includes the management of operational data required by the company’s finance departments.
The entire project took approximately 14 months to complete before it went live. An extensive pre-launch testing plan was carried out, which allowed for a smooth transition to production and ensured that the scheduled timelines and objectives were met.
As a result of the project, Aluar achieved adequate traceability of its products in warehouses and at distribution centers, as well as streamlined and optimized its operational processes.
